Center floor. Not directly in front but not too far back. Although I’ve never been in the front row, I can’t imagine it’s all that great besides being close to the artist. I like to see everything that’s going on.
On lunch break. I wanted a frozen drink so I hit up my usual QuikTrip and I’m sitting in the parking lot. I see a young man pumping his gas, maybe 18 and just graduated. On the other side of him is an older black lady getting out to pump hers. He fills his tank and puts the handle back on, and…
That’s great. I’ve never seen such a thing myself but I’m glad it goes on
I dunno if I’ve ever been to a bad concert. They’ve all been pretty chill. I’ve been to bad or semi terrible amateur shows however. If I had to choose one it would be the Eminem/Jay Z concert they had at Yankee Stadium last year. I was supposed to go but wasn’t able to make it for reasons out of my control. Quite disappointing.
It’s a toss up. I saw Lady Gaga (with Semi Precious Weapons who were surprisingly good) this past April for her Monster Ball Tour at the Frank Erwin Center. I went with my sister and it was amazing. That girl is quite clearly nuts. I love it!
I also saw Kanye West (with Rihanna, N.E.R.D and Lupe Fiasco) back in ‘08 at Madison Square Garden for the Glow in the Dark Tour which was an equally good show. Gaga and Kanye are my two favorite artists right now so I’m so glad to have seen them perform live :)
A rape culture is a culture of intimidation. It keeps women afraid of being attacked and so it keeps women confined in the range of their behavior. That fear makes a women censor her behavior—her speech, her way of dressing, her actions. It undermines her confidence in her ability to be independent. The necessity to be mindful of one’s behavior at all times is far more than annoying. Women’s lives are unnecessarily constricted.
As a society, this one issue hampers the best efforts of half our population. It costs us heavily in lost initiative and in emotional energy stolen from other, more creative thoughts.
”—Emilie Buchwald, “Raising Girls for the 21st Century,” Transforming a Rape Culture, (1993)
It’s just a general feeling. Nothing happened and no one did anything but my patience in unusually thin these days and I have a somewhat “I don’t give a crap” attitude right now. I haven’t been texting or calling anyone unless they make first contact, and this is why. Nothing personal. One of those moods I’ll get out of eventually.
I think I know how I could get out of it sooner, but that thing is not happening lol. Oh well.
i saw this article and decided to share: http://content.usatoday.com/communities/entertainment/post/2011/05/austin-city-limits-music-festival-releases-lineup-1/1
i wish i could go :-/
I Know! I do to lol. Tickets sold out pretty quick but I may be able to get some from a few people I know. The only problem is I might not even be in town then so I was hesitant to commit. Should be a dope series of shows though :)
